61- Willemstoren

Dive Site Number 61 – Willemstoren, also known as Lighthouse, is located at the southernmost point of Bonaire. The historic lighthouse was built in the 19th century to guide maritime traffic safely along the island’s dangerous southern coast. Today, it remains a striking landmark in an open landscape of salt flats, wind, and sea.

Due to its location at the extreme south, this site often experiences waves, swell, and strong currents. These currents bring in plenty of plankton, creating a dynamic dive, but they can also affect visibility. The reef itself is impressive and largely untouched, with beautiful soft corals swaying in the current.

Because of the conditions, it is recommended to dive here only with a local guide. They check the current sea conditions and determine whether it is safe to enter the water. Good guidance is essential, especially in rougher weather.
