48- Jeannie's Glory
Dive site number 48 - Jeannies Glory is a special dive site on Bonaire, located north of Salt Pier. The entry is moderate and requires some attention due to the uneven bottom. Once in the water, the reef gently slopes away, creating an interesting landscape of corals and rock formations. The mix of sand, coral, and varying depths makes this a fascinating place to dive.
What makes Jeannies Glory even more unique are the two buoys marking the site. In addition to the usual yellow dive buoy, there is a red buoy attached to a large chain on the seabed, which is sometimes used by Salt Pier ships as an additional mooring point. The chain sits at around 8 meters (≈26 feet) and is clearly visible from the surface. The yellow buoy is connected to this chain, making the site easy to locate and navigate. This combination of vibrant reef life and clear navigation markers makes Jeannies Glory a truly distinctive dive spot.

💡Personal advice💡
- Use your compass from the shore: I first align my compass with the yellow buoy before entering the water and start the dive against the current. This helps me navigate more easily and locate the buoy quickly, avoiding getting lost on the shallow plateau.
- Above the water, you will see both a red and a yellow buoy. The red buoy is used by Salt Pier ships for mooring. Underwater, you can also hear it as the metal parts of the chain bump against each other. You can easily find the red buoy by following the long chain, which stretches over 131 feet (≈40 meters).
- If the current is favorable, experienced divers can choose a drift dive from Jeannies Glory toward Salt Pier. Diving with the current means you don’t have to swim back against it. You can exit the water at Salt Pier, while one buddy stays with your gear and the other collects the car still parked at Jeannies Glory. This way, you don’t have to carry everything back, making the dive much more relaxed.
